Early Childhood Education

Divine Mercy College offers our youngest students a specialised and purpose-built Early Childhood Education centre.

Early Childhood Education

Situated on the college campus, the centre is separated from the primary and secondary school areas, in order to focus on these formative years in a safe, social and unique learning environment.

Kindergarten is offered to students three days a week (Monday, Wednesday Friday) in a relaxed style that concentrates on learning through a blend of play-based and explicit teaching activities. As this first year of schooling is transitionary – from the home in to the school – emphasis is placed on time spent socialising with fellow classmates, and experiencing outdoor play in the dedicated, newly-built early childhood playground area.

Pre-primary is offered to students five days a week in the same Early Childhood Education area. The curriculum follows guidelines and bench-marks set by the State Government of Western Australia, and is led by a specialised early childhood education teacher. Pre-primary students are also involved in specialist programs for religion, sports, music and language.
